Job Summary:
The Flight Training Officer (FTO) is a senior person identified by the Training Manager, in conjunction with Group Air Support and Accountable Manager input.
The FTO’s contractual authority has been granted to ensure that all flight training activities undertaken by Wilderness Air are carried out in accordance with the Flight Operations Manuals and in terms of the applicable requirements prescribed by the Civil Aviation Authority and the Wilderness Air, Air Service License.

Key Performance Areas:
.The FTO is responsible for the Wilderness Air Flight Training Program which includes but not limited to, the safe, efficient, legal and correct conduct of all initial, recurrent and transition flight training.
.The FTO shall ensure that all flight training, conducted by or on behalf of Wilderness Air, is correctly approved, authorised and released in accordance with the provisions of the Civil Aviation Regulations, Flight Operations Manual, Training Manual and Wilderness Safaris insurance policies

.The FTO shall maintain a superior liaison mechanism with the Training Manager, Chief Pilot, Flight Operations Manager, Ground Training Officer, Maintenance Manager, Safety Manager and Quality Manager for any matters affecting the proper training of Wilderness Air flight crew personnel.
.Liaising with the Civil Aviation Authority on training, licensing and air operational matters
.Attending Aviation Legislation and Industry related meetings.
.The development and enhancement of the Flight Training Division within the company.
.The development, implementation and enhancement of legally compliant flight training programs in accordance with the BCARS, the standards, policies and procedures contained in the company Operating Manuals and the requirements determined by the Chief Pilot.
.The planning, scheduling, co-ordination, supervision and control of all flight training activities provided to the flight crew employed by Wilderness Air.
.Authorising all flight training activities carried out under the Wilderness Air AOC.
.Supporting the Chief Pilot in the development, maintenance and enhancement of company flying standards.
.Ensuring that all flight training activities are carried out safely, legally, correctly and efficiently and in accordance with the Company SOP and Training Manual.
.Flight training is provided to a high standard, meeting or exceeding the standards and expectations agreed upon by management.
.The recruitment, appointment, supervision and control of flight training personnel, ensuring standardisation of instructional and flight techniques in accordance with the policy and
.Procedures contained in the Training Manual and published SOP’s.
.Ensuring that all flight training personnel have been appropriately trained, assessed as competent and correctly authorised to carry out training duties and that their competency is assessed regularly.
.Ensuring that all flight training personnel are correctly licensed, type rated and current on type, prior to being authorised for training duties.
.Ensuring that complete and accurate training records are maintained for all flight crew personnel.
.Planning and supporting the development of individuals’ skills and abilities.
.Ensuring that training requirements are completed with the minimum disruption to the normal flight operations.
.The selection, appointment and supervision of external flight training organisations, where required. ii. Liaising with other training organisations and to submit recommendations which may serve to enhance Wilderness Airs’ training capability and procedures.
.The compilation of a monthly flight training report for submission to the TM.
.Ensuring Piloting methods, checks, flows, procedures being instructed are in accordance with the company SOPS.
.Ensuring Flight training is carried out until such time as the pilot is considered competent to test.
.Ensuring prior to issuing a recommendation to test, it is confirmed that:
.Ensuring that all required training aspects have been completed.
.Ensuring that the training record has been completed.
.Ensuring that the trainee is competent to test.

Requirements:

Minimum Requirements:
•Current Botswana CPL or higher
•Grade III Instructors Rating or higher.
•2000 or more hours total flying time.
•Should possess not less than 1500 Hours Botswana flying time.
•Pilot-in-Command qualification on the specific aircraft types operated by Wilderness Air Botswana.
•Should possess instruction and Training Captain hours of at least 800 hours.
•Must have a check pilot authorization.
•Must have instrument Rating.
•Preference will be given to candidates who hold a recognized Diploma in Aviation Science or equivalent.
