Description
Successfully established company within the FMCG industry is seeking to appoint a hands-on and proactive Logistics Manager.
The Logistics Manager will be responsible for optimally managing the logistical flow which entails communicating with the relevant internal stakeholders regarding the finished product levels, the required storage and dispatch in line with OTIF (on time in full) delivery requirements. In addition, improving company efficiencies through adhering with the company’s systems and procedures, assist in the implementation of the company quality standards and help achieve the company’s mission and goals.
Responsibilities:
Establishing your department goals after consultation with the management team.
Drive process improvement and cost-saving through effective logistical management.
Hands-on management of your assigned department.
Monitor productivity of your department and the effectiveness of your procedures.
Conduct meetings and close communication with departments regarding finished product levels and the required dispatch thereof.
Oversee the daily delivery plan with the dispatch supervisor.
Develop and optimise fleet management controls.
Driver management – ensure that your drivers have valid licences and PDPs.
Work with HR to complete and review your team’s KPI’s, holding your supervisor accountable for set targets.
Motivate your team and develop positive morale and team spirit.
Ensure health and safety compliance for your department and assist with health and safety requirements for the company.
Ensure that your departmental staff are allocated with and wear the necessary PPE.
Work with HR to ensure that required personnel are kept up to date with all relevant training required (forklift training, driver permits etc).
Ensure maintenance of the property, facilities, and company vehicles.
Manage all the company security personnel.
Management reporting on daily operations and departmental goals.
Any other duties which management may reasonably assign.
Requirements:
Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate.
Tertiary qualification in supply chain/logistics or similar.
8 years or more relevant experience in a supervisory or management role.
Computer literate – MS Office.
Valid driver’s license and own reliable transport.
Ability to work a demanding schedule during peak season, public holidays, weekends, and overtime.

Understanding of manufacturing operations, especially dispatch processes.
