Yuppiechef is looking for an efficient and methodical Junior Email Designer to be responsible for creating our impactful and sales-driving daily marketing newsletters. If you’re someone who’s obsessive about accuracy, hates a typo, and loves the reward of seeing your design work drive results every day, then we want to hear from you.
Our team started as two good friends and only 32 products in a lounge in Cape Town, and now there are nearly 200 of us who help make Yuppiechef South Africa's premier kitchen and homeware store. We're selling 8,000 curated products from 700 leading international and local brands, and we're growing faster than ever.

What your role looks like
Yuppiechef’s newsletters are an integral part of our marketing output - they’re an important revenue driver for the company, and are loved by the loyal customers who read them. We design and send out five mailers a week, each with a different theme and product selection, and its own creative and communication challenges. They’re built in conjunction with the marketing manager and Buying and Planning teams, to ensure we put forward campaigns with broad business support. 
Your role would include the following: 
  • Designing five marketing newsletters a week, using our internally developed newsletter system
  • Sharing newsletters internally and collating feedback from various teams
  • Being responsible for checking that all links and information are correct and up to date as per the plan
  • Doing final and punctual checks that all specials and promotions are live and available, before sending the mailer each weekday morning
  • Setting out a schedule for building and designing mailers to allow time for approvals from other teams
  • Designing homepage marketing banners using an internally developed system
  • Remaining on top of trends within the industry and medium
  • Supporting the rest of our Design team, learning from them and collaborating with them on other projects as needed

What experience and skills you need for the role 
  • At least one years’ experience in design, preferably with a retail background (please attach portfolio as directed in the application process)
  • Skilled user of Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
  • Tertiary qualification at a design school is preferable.
  • Familiarity with an email design platform such as Mailchimp

Pay and Benefits:
  • We pay competitive, market-related salaries based on skills and experience, and profit share based on the company's performance
