We have a fabulous job opportunity for a dynamic Account Manager to join the Client Service team at a creative agency’s Cape Town office. This exciting role will see you working on one of the agency’s longest standing clients, doing e-learning and internal comms. You will report directly to an Account Director. This role is responsible for building and maintaining strategic brand partner relationships with the Company’s clients. The incumbent will be expected to show an entrepreneurial mindset with a view to growing current and prospective client relationships. You will manage the conceptual and design process; taking the brief from the client and ensuring this is briefed into the Company adequately. The successful candidate is expected to take ownership of allocated campaigns/projects in order to produce professional and creative campaign plans and/or solutions. The role will work collaboratively with the Account Director, Studio and Project Management team to deliver on-time, on-budget, profitable, high-quality deliverables for clients, ensuring overall client satisfaction.
Responsibilities
Client Services
  • Manage client expectations, objectives, and timelines on a day-to-day basis
  • Problem solve with the client and draw on the ability to push back and deliver difficult news
  • Conduct research for and write conceptual briefs
  • Foster a personal cognisance in the client and their interests: Take responsibility to acknowledge the client on notable days or occasions on behalf of the Company
  • Understand client strategies, business problems/challenges and briefs, and translate these into the briefs and internal review discussions
  • Compile strategically led, brand and business-problem relevant briefs and follow the operational process thereafter
  • Remain up to date on clients’ brand (both locally and globally if applicable)
  • Help guide and influence client strategies and brand plans
  • Identify opportunities for campaigns and services that will lead to an increase in sales
  • Display a sense of ownership and management on all assigned brand and campaign work
  • Compile a thorough post project analysis, displaying all results and project outcome with recommendations going forward
  • Ensure that the Project Management team are tracking on timelines as forecasted. Update the client throughout the production process
  • Ensure status docs are updated prior to all client meetings and that the Project Management team provides updated project timing plans
  • Communicate progress, risks, expectations, timelines, milestones, and other key project metrics to the Account Director
  • Validate the client brief through a comprehensive understanding of the project requirements, objectives, and deadlines
  • Work with the Project Management team to ensure client briefs are loaded into the system
  • Obtain written briefs and confirmation of approvals from client
  • Act as the liaison between the Company and the client by creating and maintaining clear and quality lines of communication between client and internal teams
  • Deliver the required work on time, the first time, to ensure the highest possible levels of quality, excellence, and service
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions to accurately understand client briefs
  • Contribute to creative concept development and pre/post-research (where required)
  • Ensure the Project Management team and Studio have a sound understanding of the campaign
  • Ensure that the Project Management team has created status documents and that they are kept up to date
  • Work with the Project Management team to produce project plan and schedules for each campaign
  • Assist with the delivery of the client retention strategy
  • Deliver on client satisfaction targets

New Business Development
  • Be aware of potential new opportunities for the Company within existing ongoing/retainer clients
  • Upsell the Company’s offerings (where appropriate) with existing clients
  • Assist the Account Director with ensuring that new project-based clients continue to use the Company’s services after initial (once off) campaign has been completed
  • Keep abreast of brand and industry trends and news by subscribing to and reading relevant publications and online platforms

Operations
  • Adhere to and uphold all Company operational, financial, planning and creative processes
  • Be proficient on the Company’s operating system e.g. ensure timesheets are loaded on time, receive and respond to tasks, upload all briefs, instructions and financial administration on jobs etc.
  • Be organised in terms of managing the workload he/she is given and managing his/her system of filing and backing up of collateral

Finance
  • Raise all client invoices according to the Company’s finance process
  • Ensure all purchase orders and payment is received from client on time and escalate when required 

Miscellaneous
  • Assist in growing and training members of the Client Services team
  • Oversee and mentor more junior members of the Client Services team on briefs, clients and projects
  • Receive constructive feedback and use this to grow and improve

  • Driver’s license – favourable.
  • Able to communicate with clients on projects with support from AD
  • Knowledge of digital and video content - is a massive plus
  • Able to write briefs for studio and manage creative tasks with Traffic Manager
