Are you a versatile designer who has an in-depth understanding of various digital channels and digital marketing? Do you have insight into different markets and what makes consumers tick? Are you able to conceptualise digital campaigns, and create eye-catching graphics?  Do you stay on top of the latest trends? 
The successful applicant will be able to work across various target markets, platforms and channels. They will be able to keep a cool head while delivering exceptional results under pressure. They will be able to smash fast and tight deadlines in volume but most importantly, our ideal candidate is able to work collaboratively in a team. 
But wait, what is the studio?
The ShopriteX Studio is a dynamic team of creative technologists who create a wide range of content for the Shoprite Group's integrated, omnichannel campaigns, as well as internal media. We also support the nation’s leading grocery delivery business – Sixty60. 
This digital designer role entails but is not limited to: 
  • Working with the internal team to create our omnichannel retail content particularly with copywriter, UI/UX designers and account managers.
  • Integrating closely with the stakeholders to deliver omnichannel retail content particularly project managers, proof-readers, strategists & brand managers  
  • Being the custodian of the Sixty60 and Rainmaker Media CI for the Sixty60 APP 
  • Designing artwork specifically for the Sixty60 App 
  • Taking joint responsibility with your project teams for the quality & delivery of work 
  • Translating a brief and the strategic requirements into a strong visual representation 
  • Unpacking briefs to fully leverage opportunities for highly creative output 
  • Taking ownership of tasks and the creative process to progress towards deadline 
  • Understanding creative, artistic and cultural trends & how to apply them to brands 
  • Being an integral part of ideation and creation - a thought-leader who is impactful  
  • Being able to impactfully present your team’s work to leaders and stakeholders  
  • Have a passion for design with the customer always at the forefront of the journey 
  • Having the ability to work within a team 

Required experience and skills/attributes:
  • Completed tertiary qualification in digital design 
  • At least three years’ experience as digital designer in an advertising agency 
  • Experience with web design; designing of e-commerce websites; animations and social media design 
  • Digital Art Direction 
  • Animation/GIF creation 
  • Creating and understanding emailers 
  • Solid understanding of all digital platforms in conjunction with traditional channels  
  • Basic understanding of UX and UI 
  • Experience in high-volume environments with fast turn-around preferred 
  • Strong digital design portfolio 
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills 
  • Committed and collaborative team player
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) 
Proficient in:
  • UI/UX 
  • Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) 
  • Cloud-based prototyping platforms e.g., Figma, Invision etc. (advantage) 
  • After effects (advantage) 
  • Outstanding attention to detail 
  • Proficient at juggling both in-office and remote working environments
Advantageous experience and skills/attributes:
  • Presentation skills 
  • Experience in Digital marketing 
  • Strong conceptual ability and strategic mindset 
  • Proficient in MS Office and Teams 
  • Experience with trafficking and timekeeping software e.g., Workbook 
  • Microsoft Office suite 
  • Strong administration skills (logging of time and tracking jobs)
