We're looking for a candidate to fill this position in an exciting company.
Responsibilities Functions & Tasks
Provide specialist; safety, health, environmental and quality; advice and information to the Executive, SHEQ Manager and all other internal parties for their consideration and decision making
Design, implement and maintain a certified and legally compliant Integrated Management System (IMS) in accordance with the prevailing versions of ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO45001 and local legislation as amended
Ensure all senior legal appointments are current, i.e. s16(2), GMR2(1), SHE Sub Committee Chairperson
Develop, implement, maintain and improve a documented emergency plan for all sites
Through the review of operational records, ensure the validity of the emergency team members for all the Unit's sites
Ensure the necessary registration and notification of the Unit's Major Hazardous Installations (MHI) to the authorities are current and in line with the MHI Regulations
Ensure that the necessary MHI Risk assessments are conducted and in line with the MHI Regulations, and that the results are issued to the responsible s16(2) and GMR2(1) appointees for their implementation
Ensure that the simulated emergency drill for the Unit's MHI is conducted in line with the MHI Regulations
Ensure all discipline Sustainability reporting deliverables are provided as per Unit, Divisional and Group dead-lines
Ensure all discipline monthly reports and dashboards are provided as per Unit, Divisional and Group requirements and dead-lines
Provide specialist oversight and advisory role into incident investigations
Act as the liaison officer between the Department of Employment and Labour and the Unit in terms of Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations incidents and audits
Act as the liaison officer between the Environmental Management Inspectorate in terms of National Environmental Management Act and associated Acts and Regulations in terms of incidents and audits
Compile and furnish specialist discipline reports as requested by the Executive and SHEQ Manager
Ensure that the operational, high level, Unit specific risk assessments are conducted and issued to the responsible s16(2) and GMR2(1) appointees for implementation
Ensure that the Unit identifies, obtains and maintains all legislated registrations and permits (e.g. MHI registration, Effluent Permit, Certificate of Registration for Flammable substances etc.)
In line with Group, Divisional and Unit initiatives and requirements, and as mandated to, provide the necessary specialist input, information, advice, reporting, management, oversight and support to achieve the required objectives (e.g. SafeStart, ChemWatch, Energy Efficiency Program etc.)

Entitled to stop any operation/process Unit wide should there be any evidence of violation against the Unit's IMS and the associated Legislation
