The candidate will conduct R&D on enzyme-based, electrochemical immunosensors and enzyme-based biosensors as well as chemical sensors based on nanotechnology and their applications. The incumbent must have appreciation of the development or fabrication of biosensor device. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS: Design and develop nanotechnology-based biosensors for various applications. Ensure long-term sustainability of projects by ensuring innovative and relevant R&D is undertaken to produce new technologies and products Understanding antibody and antigen specific interactions its detection using a transducer and an electrical signal. Fabrication of electrodes which translate the chemical signal into an electrical signal Developments and production of screen printed electrode patterns on a plastic substrate, coated with a conducting polymer followed by attachment of some protein (enzyme or antibody). Take a leadership role in scaling-up, optimization and validation processes Develop technical evaluation protocols for biosensor products/technologies Coordinate with team members responsible for other aspects of the research projects Devise commercial strategies and draft targets, have the targets approved for the Group, and ensure that adequate work is done and progress achieved to meet them. This will include leveraging of funds for sustainability of the unit.
