Manage the maintenance department and artisans.
Develop a layout of the plant, its respective departments, engineering rooms and machinery.
Develop a Planned Maintenance Schedule.
Develop a Preventative Maintenance System and ensure that this is implemented and maintained.
Assist with upskilling and cross-training of the artisan team.
Identify reliable contractors, negotiate, and action service level agreements.
Manage maintenance department inventory and essential spares.
Timeous response to unplanned/emergency breakdowns.
Investigate and analysis of recurring faults and breakdowns and implement solutions for corrective and preventative action.
Liaise with Factory Management teams regarding production schedules and output requirements to ensure that Maintenance Department supports and aligns with these objectives.
Assist with preparation of budgets for CAPEX expenses.
Ensure compliance with Health and Safety.
Responsible for attendance, work performance and discipline of the artisans.
Completed Tertiary Qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering will be advantageous.
Qualified Red Seal Artisan (Millwright, Fitter and Turner or Refrigeration Mechanic).
Proven history in maintenance management and planning in a FMCG or manufacturing environment.
Ability to keep up with the high pressure and demand that is present in a manufacturing plant.
Ability to work a demanding schedule during peak season, public holidays, weekends, overtime, attend to callouts for breakdowns at any time.
