Job description

An opportunity has just become available in our Leisurewear department for a resilient, innovative and resourceful s enior Buyer who can add value to our m enswear team through the successful trending, sourcing and procurement of menswear merchandise for Old Khaki .
Our ideal candidate will have the ability to significantly contribute towards the achievement of our department and business objectives as well as have the high energy levels required for this fast-paced, exciting and dynamic retail environment.
Duties and responsibilities:
  • Range preparation, coordination and presentation
  • Range execution in alignment with the business objectives
  • Presenting range reviews
  • Building and maintaining relationships with suppliers
  • Negotiate and manage supplier contracts
  • Effectively collaborating with the relevant stakeholders and departments
  • Overseeing the Product Quality and Fit
  • Controlling sample stock
  • General buying administrative functions


  • Grade 12 certificate and a relevant tertiary qualification is required
  • Five years of retail merchandise buying experience is essential
  • Experience working in a clothing retail environment is an important requirement
  • Working knowledge of the retail cycle and merchandise buying principles and processes
  • A clear understanding of menswear styling, components and construction
  • A working knowledge of the latest Microsoft packages is require
  • A passion for keeping up to date with trends and a creative flair for fashion
  • The ability to understand, interpret and adapt trends to our different target markets
  • Strong product sensibility and understanding of fashion brands
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Sound analytical thinking & logical problem-solving skills
  • Strong merchant, trader and commercial mentality
  • Proven negotiation skills
  • Ability to make sound decisions together with effective problem-solving skills
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with all levels of the organisation
  • Solid organising, planning and time management skills
  • Resilient and tenacious in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
