Food safety and food safety systems:
Ensuring facility complies with food safety requirements as set out by the relevant food safety standard
Ensuring that all food safety, quality, and legislative documentation on file is the most current version
Keeping abreast of all new trends emerging in the industry pertaining to the products used by the company and produced by the company, as well as food safety and quality-related trends.
Assisting with any food safety-related audits conducted internally or externally by third parties, factory tours or customer visits.
Raise non-conformances (internal and for customer complaints) to address any issues relating to a deviation from the system or relating to products manufactured that may be unsafe or consumption.
Investigating root causes and implementing corrective and preventative action.
Assist all representatives on a technical level should it be required
Updating and maintaining the food safety system to comply with relevant standard requirements
Checking that all factory records are completed correctly, accurately and the most current version is used
General administrative duties which include but is not limited to supplier questionnaires, updating of final product specifications, filing, etc.
Ensure that all products manufactured are of unfailing quality, as per product specifications and customer expectation
Investigate quality issues that arise and implement corrective and preventative actions
Ensure all external testing requirements are fulfilled
Hygiene monitoring must be done according to the schedule
Assisting in the laboratory with testing and general tasks as required
Supervising laboratory staff when required
General administrative duties
You may from time to time be required to work in any other department in the factory to perform ad hoc tasks or as operational requirements demand.
Food Science / Technology qualification to degree level
Minimum 2 – 5 years of technical experience working for a food manufacturer
Knowledge of relevant food safety requirements and implementation thereof
Knowledge of quality testing and inspections
Previous experience in the spice industry will be advantageous
Demonstrable experience in the conduct and management of Internal Audits is a requirement.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, accurate and precise with demonstrable attention to detail.
IT Literate in Microsoft applications.
