NACOSA is recruiting for an experience Accounting Systems Specialist to assist on a short-term contract to assist with the project of migration to the SAGE Evolution Accounting System. This position is based in Century City, and the ideal candidate would be available to start immediately.

Job Summary:

In this role you will see through the operational change of the accounting system from Quickbooks to SAGE Evolution. The design of the new Chart of Accounts and General Ledger Segments (projects) in SAGE Evolution has already been completed, you will be responsible for the testing of the setup and making any further system changes and improvements that may be required before SAGE Evolution is used as the sole accounting system.

You should be able to recommend financial systems and process improvements as we aim to work smarter, not harder. To do this, you will need to demonstrate how you are able to use software (and modules) to achieve automation and efficiencies in traditionally manual/paper based accounting and administrative processes.

The ideal candidate must have an in-depth knowledge of project-based accounting and should have practical experience setting up and using an ERP system.

Key Responsibilities:

•Testing and improving the existing SAGE Evolution setup using +- 8 months of historical financial data from Quickbooks
•Mapping of Quickbooks data so that it can be entered into the new system
•Import opening balances
•Import general ledger and other transaction level data
•Adding / making changes to accounts, sub-accounts, segments / projects, customers and suppliers
•Setting up customer / supplier groups
•Setting up user groups and related administrative user rights
•Testing the SAGE Evolution setup in a live-environment using live data during February 2021 and March 2021
•Full bookkeeping/accounting function of processing new orders, supplier invoices, payments
•Importing / integration of bank account feed into SAGE Evolution
•Perform month end activities so that the accounts can be prepared in a timely manner (including reconciliations for bank, petty cash, customers and suppliers etc.)
•Processing month-end journals
•Develop templates for importing standard journals
•Setting up reports for projects management accounts
•Importing and setting up budgets and forecasts in the accounting system
•Maintain a reconciliation between accounting systems, Quickbooks vs SAGE Evolution
•There will be a change in the basis of accounting (cash basis to accrual) which is an added layer of complexity to the project, so a reconciliation between the systems and basis of accounting differences is a critical aspect of the project to ensure the data integrity of the new system can be relied upon
•Provide technical recommendations on system development and changes (improvements)
•Provide recommendations and changes to the finance policies and processes
•Provide training to the finance staff on the practical use of SAGE Evolution using the accrual basis of accounting
•A practical user manual should be developed for the key processes performed
•System interface and navigation training has already been provided to the staff, a refresher might be needed

Education And Experience Requirements:

•Non-negotiable: Only applicants that have ERP systems implementation experience will be considered (SAGE Evolution preferred)
•Non-negotiable: Experience with project-based accounting (SAGE Evolution, segmented ledger experience preferred)
•Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
•Accounting experience (5 years+)
•Deep understanding of accounting processes and principles, you know the Balance Sheet & Income
•Statement inside out (from initial entry point to reporting)
•Systems savvy within accounting systems
•Knowledge of SAGE modules / plugins (Bank Statement Manager, Intelligence Centre etc.) that improve operational efficiencies through automation of processes
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)
•Self-organized and task oriented
•Great attention to detail
•Fluent in written and spoken English
