Job description

At Cape Union Mart, the Learning and Development (L&D) team is responsible for creating a culture of continuous learning and growth through holistic learning and development programmes and initiatives. Our L&D Team is looking for a talented, hardworking and passionate Multimedia Designer to provide design output for internal learning content.

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and passionate about content development and design. They will have the ability to align with the company vision, be self-motivated and be actively involved in overseeing the end-to-end process in their area of responsibility. In addition, the successful candidates should have the high energy levels required for this fast-paced, exciting and dynamic retail environment. 

The learning and development team form a part of the broader Human Capital Department for the Cape Union Mart Group. The position is based at our Head Office in CBD Cape Town.

Purpose of the role:

To create content that engages audiences; develop and produce multimedia pieces for use on the online learning platforms, multimedia presentations and as part of the departmental comms strategy. The goal for this role is to create design that is innovative and sets a standard of excellence.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Ideate visual ideas/create visual effects, animations, and other related graphics
  • Present the final design for approval
  • Monitor existing content to understand what’s worked well and identify unique opportunities to bring content to life
  • Design and develop digital learning content
  • Management of online learning platform
  • Management of social media platforms, e.g. Intranet
  • Seeing all projects through from concept, design to implementation
  • Working collaboratively with the broader Human Resources Department on all creative projects
  • Creating designs for digital and social media

Qualifications and experience required:
  • A diploma / degree in graphic design (a qualification in Multimedia Design is advantageous)
  • Three+ years of working experience in a similar design role is required
  • 1-2 years’ experience in graphic design in a retail environment is advantageous
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite:
  • Adobe Premiere Pro
  • Adobe After Effects
  • Adobe Indesign
  • Adobe Illustrator
  • Adobe XD
  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Expert knowledge of print and production processes
  • Basic Word Press knowledge
  • High-level sense of design, typography, layout and photography
  • Microsoft Office proficiency
  • High level of quality control through various stages of the production process
  • Ability to interpret briefs, conceptualise graphics and produce solution
  • Creation of user interfaces and other graphic elements for online learning platform
  • Strong administrative skills
  • A showreel or a link to an online portfolio will be advantageous in this application.
