Applications are invited for the above-indicated vacancy within Newzroom Afrika. The successful incumbent will report to the Executive: Human Resources.
Job purpose
The Human Resource Manager will work closely with the Executives and management team. He/she will be providing daily HR guidance, analysing trends and metrics, resolving complex employee relations issue, monitoring, and reporting on workforce, identifying training needs, evaluating training programs, suggesting better HR strategies in line with Newzroom Afrika’s vision.
Key responsibilities:
  • Work hand in hand with the Executive: HR to ensure the Newzroom Afrika’s strategic objectives are achieved.
  • Understand business requirements and strategic objectives and translate them into HR and people agenda priorities.
  • Provide professional HR support on all operational HR issues
  • Partner with the leadership team to understand and execute the organisation talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention and succession planning.
  • Manage the administration of employee contracts.
  • Develop and manage HR policies in line with the internal governance, risk and compliance standards.
  • Oversee the HR audit and ensure remedial steps are taken within the stipulated.
  • Responsible for the management of disciplinary processes, ensure compliance with the company’s Code of Conduct and procedures.
  • Manage all external disputes (i.e CCMA and Legal).
  • Manage the implementation of the Employee Satisfaction Surveys to identify the current levels of employee engagement
  • Support and drive change initiatives within the business.
  • Facilitate the performance management process (contracting, appraisals, reporting on trends, informal training) performance.
  • Manage the Induction and onboarding process.
  • Create learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees.
  • Annual submission of the WSP/ATR.
  • Annual submission of the Employment Equity Report.
  • Manage the departmental leave and produces monthly reports.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management and employment law.
Minimum qualification and experience:
  • Relevant HR degree, Industrial Psychology or equivalent preferred
  • Proven working experience as HR Manager
  • 5+ years generalist experience
  • CIPD or equivalent HR certification is a plus
